UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- Saginaw Valley State women's swimmer Lexi Hieber (Wixom, Mich., Walled Lake Western HS) was named the GLIAC Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her collegiate career on Tuesday evening.

Hieber had an impressive performance at the Calvin tri-meet this past weekend. The four-time All-American swept the distance freestyle events, winning the 1,000 in 10:24.30 before returning to take the 500 in 5:03.96.

This is the first weekly award of Hieber's career, and the first for the Cardinal swimming and diving teams this season.

SVSU crosses the bridge to the UP for a trip to Marquette this weekend for a two-showdown against Northern Michigan on Friday and Saturday, October 23-24. Friday is a tri-meet between the Wildcats and Lake Superior State. Grand Valley State joins to make it a quad meet on Saturday.
