LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team was ranked fifth in the 2026 NFCA/GoRout NCAA Division II Preseason Coaches Poll that was announced this afternoon (Tuesday, January 20).
The Cardinals (49-15) finished the 2026 season with the second-most wins in program history and competed in the NCAA DII National Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after winning both the Midwest Regional and Super Regional.
SVSU moved up one spot from the final poll of 2025 to claim the second-highest ranking in Cardinal softball history (4th, 2012 NFCA Preseason Poll).
The Cardinals open the season in Davie, Florida, on Friday, February 6, with a doubleheader against Nova Southeastern beginning at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
