UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University athletics has filled the final openings on its athletic administrative staff with the appointments of Brad Pruett as the Director of Sports Medicine, Jared Chasey as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Services, and Ashley Hool as the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine.
"It speaks volumes that SVSU Athletics can attract interest from a coach, like Chris Fowler, and support staff, like Jared Chasey and Ashley Hool, who all possess NCAA Division I experience," SVSU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics John Lewandowski said. "They see the vision and trajectory of our athletics program, and they want to help us build and maintain a 'Championship Experience' for our student-athletes."
"Brad and Jared bring a wealth of knowledge in their respective areas that will, without a doubt, take this department to the next level," Deputy Athletics Director / Senior Woman Administrator Liz Lerczak Lee said. "I am excited to work with both of them because I know they will help me be a better administrator by sharing their experiences."
Pruett removes the interim tag from his title after serving in that capacity since October 2024. He joined SVSU in December 2022 as the Insurance Coordinator for Cardinal Sports Medicine until filling the Interim Director position last year.
"I am very excited to be named Director of Sports Medicine at SVSU, and I am looking forward to elevating the standard of care for our student-athletes," Pruett said. "Athletic healthcare plays a huge role in the success of our student-athletes, and I cannot wait to be a part of that here at Saginaw Valley."
Before becoming a Cardinal, Pruett was the Clinic Manager for Midland Sports Rehab from 2019-21. Prior to that, he was the Director of Sports Medicine at NCAA Division I St. Bonaventure from 2016-19.
"The health and well-being of our student-athletes is our No. 1 priority, and that's why Brad Pruett has been selected to serve as the Director of Sports Medicine," Lewandowski said. "Brad has played a key behind-the-scenes role in our sports medicine and athletics training operation for the past three years, and now, it's time for him to assume an expanded role. Brad has gained the respect of every head coach and student-athlete here at SVSU, and we're grateful that he's now willing to oversee the entire sports medicine and athletic training program. He has broad knowledge, experience, and expertise in the field, from taking proactive measures to prevent or limit injuries to developing individual rehab and recovery programs for injured student-athletes. Under Brad's leadership, SVSU will remain focused on promoting best practices in athletics, healthcare management, and service delivery while providing student-athlete-centered medical care."
Chasey joins SVSU after seven years at Sonoma State University, where he served as the Deputy Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Senior Compliance Administrator. He represented Sonoma State University on various conference, regional, and national committees. He is a member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) where he has served as a Board Member since July 2023 and as the Chair of the Division II Reasonable Standards Committee. He has been a member of the CCAA Executive Council since April 2018 on the Administration Subcommittee, as well as the CCAA Strategic Planning Committee (beginning in August 2023), and he served on the NCAA Men's Golf Regional Advisory Committee (RAC), West Region from August 2021 to May 2024.

During his stint with the Seawolves, Chasey served as Sport Supervisor for men's basketball, women's basketball, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, and women's track & field. He was also a Championship Director for three championships hosted by SSU: the 2023 Men's Golf NCAA Regional Championship, the 2024 CCAA Golf Championship and the 2024 CCAA Cross Country Championship.
"We're excited to announce the addition of Jared Chasey to our senior administrative staff as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance Services," stated Lewandowski. Jared has a diverse and extensive background in athletics administration. He served in a wide variety of roles in his most recent position as Deputy Athletics Director at Sonoma State University. In addition to his expertise in compliance services, Jared has experience in sport supervision, corporate partnerships and revenue generation, branding, and facility master planning. His versatility as an administrator will pay great dividends for SVSU Athletics as we strive to meet the needs of our 500-plus student-athletes."
Hool joins Pruett's staff after over six years with NCAA Division I North Dakota State University, where she served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Bison. With NDSU, she was the primary athletic trainer for the women's basketball and men's golf teams. Before joining North Dakota State, she spent one year as an intern athletic trainer at Washington State University and two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for her alma mater, Texas Christian University.
"Ashley Hool has been a certified athletic trainer for nine years, including the last six years at North Dakota State University," Lewandowski said. "During her tenure at NDSU, Ashley gained valuable administrative experience while being provided opportunities to showcase her leadership skills. She also assisted in creating a Mental Health Policy and Mental Health Emergency Plan for NDSU Sports Medicine. Ashley will be a difference maker in her role as Assistant Director of Sports Medicine."
