GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the 2023 football Preseason Coaches Poll during the league's media day in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Monday afternoon.

The Saginaw Valley State University football team finished fourth in the poll with 21 points. The Cardinals completed the 2022 season with a 3-3 mark in the conference to place fourth in the standings.

"I don't think anyone is more excited that it's the 2023 season than we are at SVSU," said head coach Ryan Brady. "Our focus is on the daily grind and the opportunity to get better.  Our team has put in an amazing amount of work this summer.  We have been obsessed with development, discipline, and leadership.  I believe in my heart of hearts that this is the deepest, most talented team we've had at Saginaw Valley under my leadership.  This team will display what we're capable of being and we believe we can compete for championships."

Ferris State received five first-place votes to top the preseason poll with 34 points. 2022 GLIAC Champion Grand Valley State was second with one first-place vote and 31 points. Davenport edged out SVSU with 27 points. The Panthers also received the final first-place vote. Michigan Tech was fifth with16, Wayne State had 10, and Northern Michigan rounded things out with eight points.
