UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University finished second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) 2022-23 Presidents' Trophy Standings. The Cardinals earned the runner-up position for the second-consecutive year as they racked up 101.0 points.
Grand Valley State sat atop the standings with 141.5 points. Saginaw Valley finished 14.0 points ahead of third-place Wayne State. Ferris State (82.5 points) and Davenport (76.0 points) rounded out the top five.
The SVSU men's teams collected 46.0 points as the men's cross country team led the way with eight points, followed by GLIAC champion men's soccer with seven points. Men's indoor and outdoor track and field added six points to the cause.
The Saginaw Valley State women totaled 55.0 points after the track and field team led with nine points for outdoor and eight for indoor. Women's basketball contributed 6.5 points to the effort while softball added six.

The GLIAC Presidents' Trophy standings are based on final regular season standings except for cross country, golf, indoor/outdoor track & field, and swimming & diving, which are based on conference tournament finish.
The Presidents' Trophy is awarded at the end of each year of competition to the conference member that has demonstrated general excellence in all or most sports. The award is designed to promote well-rounded athletic programs within each member institution.
