UNIVERSITY CENTER -- SVSU Athletics hosted the 10th annual breast cancer survivor reception and recognition event on February 10, 2018 in coordination with a home basketball double header contest during the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Pink Wave week. Nineteen breast cancer survivors and families came to the campus of SVSU to celebrate a journey of courage, hope and faith.
Commemorative t-shirts, miscellaneous other promotional items were sold, earning net procceeds of $2,102 which will be donated to St. Mary's of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute Breast Care Fund. To date SVSU Athletics has raised just over $32,000 for regional community members in need of breast care services.
This event was made possible by the generous contributions of our Cardinal student-athlete volunteers and sponsors including Saginaw Radiotherapy Associates, Dr. Ernie and Leanne Balcueva and family, Catholic Federal Credit Union and Mitchell Motorcoach. Additional support was provided by the Cardinal Deli, providing the reception for all survivors and volunteers.
