UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Saginaw Valley State University Athletics Sports Medicine Staff has announced the addition of two full-time staff members, as Susan Lawless and Maddie Hansen come aboard as Assistant Athletic Trainers. 

Lawless and Hansen officially began their duties in mid-July in preparation for the upcoming 2017-18 academic year. 

Lawless came to Saginaw Valley State University after serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Rhodes College from July 2015 to May 2016.  

Susan is responsible for providing coverage for the Women's Soccer, M/W Swimming and Diving and Softball teams at SVSU.  

A native of Lake Orion, Michigan, Lawless graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2013 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. She went on to earn her Master's of Science degree in Kinesiology Theory in 2015 from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. From January-April 2013, Lawless served as the Rehabilitation Intern for the Chicago Cubs.

Lawless has been a BOC certified athletic trainer since 2013. She holds memberships in the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association and the Michigan Athletic Trainers' Society.

Hansen came to Saginaw Valley State University after serving as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Valley City State University from August 2015 to May 2017.  

Maddie is responsible for providing coverage for the Volleyball, M/W Cross Country and M/W Track and Field teams at SVSU.  

A native of Harbor Springs, Michigan, Hansen graduated from Purdue University in 2015 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. She went on to earn her Master's of Science degree in Advanced Athletic Training from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota.  

Hansen has been a BOC certified athletic trainer since 2015. She holds memberships in the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association and the Michigan Athletic Trainers' Society.
