UNIVERSITY CENTER - SVSU Athletics hosted the ninth annual breast cancer survivor reception and recognition event on February 18, 2017 in coordination with a home basketball double header contest during the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Pink Wave week. Twenty-eight breast cancer survivors and their families came to the campus of SVSU to celebrate a journey of courage, hope and faith.

Commemorative t-shirts, miscellaneous other promotional items were sold for a profit of $3,639 which will be donated to St. Mary's of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute Breast Care Fund. To date, SVSU Athletics has raised just over $30,000 for regional community members in need of breast care services. 

This event was made possible by the generous contributions of our Cardinal student-athlete volunteers and sponsors, including: Saginaw Radiotherapy Associates, Dr. Ernie and Leanne Balcueva and family, Catholic Federal Credit Union and Mitchell Motorcoach. Additional support was provided by Your Healthy Balance, donating a massage to every survivor and Cardinal Deli, providing the reception for all survivors and volunteers.
