UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Strength and Conditioning staff has recently welcomed a few new members on board. The new members are Jenee Lange, Brandon Ferstl and Patrick Frank, all who began working with the staff at the beginning of this spring semester.
Jenee Lange comes aboard as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. She will be working mainly with women's soccer, track & field, volleyball and golf. Lange comes from North Carolina State University, where she served as a Professional Strength and Conditioning Intern for Olympic sports from February 2016-December 2016. Her primary duties while at NC State included the design and execution of the annual training plan for men's and women's golf, as well as assisted Coach Bob Alejo with the monitoring and training of the men's basketball team. Lange also assisted with the implementation of programs for women's basketball, volleyball, women's tennis, and track/cross country.
Before joining the Wolfpack, Lange was a Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant at Western Illinois University from June 2014-January 2016. While at Western Illinois she oversaw women's basketball, swimming/diving, men's soccer, and track/cross country and assisted with men's basketball and football. Additionally, Lange completed internships at DePaul University and Aurora University.
Lange earned her M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology and Strength and Conditioning from Western Illinois University. Lange has a B.S. in Fitness and Health Promotion with minors in Psychology and Business from Aurora University. She holds certifications through the NSCA (CSCS), USAW (level 1), and ISSA (Sports Nutrition).
Brandon Ferstl joins the staff as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach as well. Ferstl graduated from Carroll University, where he earned his Master's in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning in 2016 and his Bachelor's in Exercise Science a year prior. In Brandon's time at Carroll, he worked primarily with football strength and conditioning for two years but also assisted other sports.
Previously, he has also worked as the head swimming strength and conditioning coach at Waukesha North High School during the 2015-2016 season. With a desire to learn as much as he could in athletic development he pursued an internship in which he was a volunteer football strength and conditioning coach at Western Kentucky University in summer 2015.
During the summer and fall semesters of 2016, he completed an internship at University of Madison-Wisconsin with Olympic sports strength and conditioning and also worked as an Athletic Performance Specialist at Elite Sports Performance in Wisconsin, coaching athletes of various sports.
He is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is dedicated to helping athletes unlock their full potential and compete at their highest level.
Patrick Frank joins as a professional intern in January 2017. He recently was a student assistant coach for the SVSU women's soccer team this past fall.
Frank also served as the Head Coach of the SVSU Women's Club Soccer team for the last three years, earning the right to play in the highly competitive W-MASC conference against such rivals as: the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Ferris State University, Indiana University, etc.
Frank has been in the Strength & Conditioning Field for 9 years (10 come December) specializing in sport performance. He holds the following coaching certifications: Certified CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3), and USAW Level 1 Performance Coach.
Patrick is a former member of the SVSU Track & Field team, specializing in the 400m and 800m races (2011-2013). He is an Exercise Science major, with a minor in Athletic Coaching, and graduated in December of 2016.
