FINDLAY - Four Saginaw Valley State University softball student-athletes earned all-conference honors from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for their play during the 2016 season.
Senior shortstop Shelby Weeks and sophomore outfielder Danielle Hamilton were each named to the All-GLIAC Second Team while senior pitcher Sarah Appold and sophomore infielder Meredith Rousse both earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors.
Weeks led the GLIAC with 10 home runs and 39 RBIs while batting .351 overall. Her .679 slugging percentage ranked her second and she racked-up 15 stolen bases as well. Shelby ranks second in career home runs at SVSU with 24. She also sits in the top-10 in RBIs, doubles, runs, and stolen bases.
Hamilton ranked eighth in the league with her .378 batting average in 2016. She was second with 27 steals and her 59 hits ranked her fifth in the conference.
Rousse hit .304 for the 2016 campaign and posted 36 RBIs to rank sixth in the GLIAC. Her five home runs ranked her ninth and her four triples have her at fourth in the league.
Appold led the league with four saves and her 8.15 strikeouts per game ranked third in the GLIAC. She had an ERA of 2.35 and overall record of 9-6. She notched 125 strikeouts in her 107.1 innings pitched. Sarah had nine complete games over the course of the season. She is second in career saves with six and is in the top-10 in starts, innings, strikeouts and earned run average.
