Saginaw Valley State University

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The SVSU swimming teams competed on the first day at the Magnus Cup Invitationa, hosted by Cleveland State University. After the opening day of competition, the women and men each sit in seventh place in the overall standings, posting 78 and 150 points, respectively. The Cardinals had some solid top times while advancing to compete in finals of the events on day one. 

Women

• 200 Yard IM A - Final | 9th | 2:07.03 | Lydia Mattar - Had a personal best time of 2:07.01 in the prelims.  
• 50 Yard Freestyle A - Final | 4th | 23.48 | Melanie Soenksen - Personal best time in the event.
• 200 Yard IM A - Final | 8th | 2:06.93 | Rebeca Martinez - Time posted in the finals of the event.

Men 

• 200 Yard Freestyle Relay | 6th | 1:24.86 | Christopher Allen, Michael Spears, Shijie Ng, Shaun Yap - 
• 500 Yard Freestyle A - Final | 5th | 4:40.90 | Jayden Hutchinson - Personal best time in the event.
• 500 Yard Freestyle A - Final | 8th | 4:41.37 | Peter Lin - Posted a 4:40.37 in the prelims.
• 200 Yard IM A - Final | 9th | 1:54.42 | Shaun Yap - Had a personal best time of 1:54.23 time in the prelims.
• 400 Yard Medley Relay | 7th | 3:26.76 | Peter Lin, Shaun Yap, Dylan Kopacki, Tanner Peltier -

The teams continue competition in the pool on Saturday, with the swimmers at Cleveland State and the divers at the Phoenix Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Chicago.
