UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team is set to open its 2013-14 season Friday (Sept. 6) at home against Ashland University.  It will kick-off a weekend home series that will include the Cardinals squaring-off against Tiffin (Saturday-10 am) and Ohio Dominican (Sunday-10 am) as well.

This weekend opens Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) competition for the Cards.  In 2012-13, SVSU claimed a victory over Ohio Dominican in the GLIAC Tournament's seventh-place match, beating the Panthers by a 5-2 margin.

Junior Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) returns after claiming All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors last season.  Also returning for the Cardinals are seniors Charlotte Wong (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Colonel Gray Senior High) and Ashley Giordano (Alpena, Mich./Alpena HS).  

Two newcomers join the Cardinals for the 2013-14 campaign, as sophomore Hannah Wittock (Flushing, Mich./Flushing HS) and freshman Izabella Ismailova (Almaty, Kazkhstan) come aboard.
