University Center, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University will welcome about 60 Saginaw youths involved in a summer program with Saginaw's Ezekiel Project Tuesday, Aug. 20. 

Participants will kick off the day watching the SVSU football team practice at 10:30 am at SVSU's Harvey Randall Wickes Memorial Stadium.  At 11 am, the children will fly kites with the team's football players and learn the science of kite flying from Danny Krebs, a retired NASA scientist and SVSU adjunct instructor of physics.

The Ezekiel Project is an ecumenical, faith-based organization that provides education and skill development for area youths. The group's summer program included learning how to build small solar cars, fishing and acting lessons. Some children also participated in a language arts component involving another Saginaw organization, Friends of Theodore Roethke.
