MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Tennis team was defeated today (Oct. 22) by Ferris State University 5-1.
The team of Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) and Yunjiao Shangguan (Chengdu, China/Shiyang HS) would get the Cardinals off to a good starting winning in No. 1 doubles 8-6. However, Saginaw Valley would be unable to capitalize in their other two doubles matches with the duo of Charlotte Wong (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island/Colonel Gray Senior High) and Annessa Campian (Troy, Mich./Troy HS) losing 8-1 in their No. 2 doubles match and the team of Bobbi Enos (Almont, Mich./Almont HS) and Katie Piorkowski (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) losing 8-6 in their No. 3 doubles match. Sophomore Campian would also battle through a tough singles match before losing in No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-1.
The Cardinals will return to action at the Midland Community Tennis Center tomorrow (Oct. 23) at 9:15 am to face Ohio Dominican University where they will battle for 7th place in the GLIAC Tennis Tournament.
