BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State
University softball players Jade Fulton and Jessica McKeith have
been selected as GLIAC Pitcher and Player of the week. Fulton
and McKeith helped the #14 Cardinals to a 5-0 record last week.
Jade Fulton (Byron, Mich.), a junior pitcher, helped
SVSU to a 5-0 mark to open GLIAC play by picking up three wins
without allowing an earned run last week. She struck out 21 batters
while allowing just two walks, lowering her season ERA to a
league-leading 0.65 with a 104 strikeouts, third-best int the
GLIAC, and just nine walks. She has won all three of the GLIAC
games she has pitched in and has a 0.00 ERA with 21 strikeouts in
those contests.
Jessica McKeith (River Rouge, Mich), a junior
outfielder, tallied an .833 (five-of-six) batting average with 10
runs-batted-in and four runs scored as SVSU went 5-0 to open GLIAC
play last week. She had seven RBI in the Cardinals' game
against Hillsdale on Saturday (Apr. 2) going 2-for-2 with a
bases-loaded double and a grand slam. McKeith is batting .400 on
the season with a team-leading .700 slugging percentage.
The Cardinals are ranked #14 in the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association poll and are currently 18-2 overall on the season and
5-0 in the GLIAC. SVSU will host Tiffin on Saturday (April
10) at 1:00 pm.
