STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team enters the 2010 season as the #10 team in the nation as ranked by National Fast pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) today (Jan. 27) after finishing the 2009 season ranked #14.

The Cardinals will not have to wait long to see if they belong, as they play three teams that are ranked in the pre-season Top 25. SVSU will play defending Division II National Champion, Lock Haven, as well as Indianapolis, the team which knocked SVSU out in the Midwest Super Regional's in 2009 and California (Pa.). Saginaw Valley will also battle with Division I South Dakota during their trip to the Rebel Spring Games in Florida, which is where the Cardinals will play their first 17 games of the season.

SVSU will open the season against Georgian Court on March 5 at 3:00 pm.
