Beaubien and Fulton Named GLIAC Player and Pitcher of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Collegiate Athletic Conference has named Marsha Beaubien and Jade Fulton player and pitcher of the week for their play on the field this past week.

Senior outfielder Marsha Beaubien (Alpena, Mich.) racked up eight hits, three of which left the park while adding eight RBI and scoring seven runs, leading the Cardinals to a 3-1 week. She has now hit six homeruns in the last two weeks of play to add another dimension to her game. Beaubien continues to steal bases at a clip of one a game and personally has more stolen bases than every team in the GLIAC. She leads the league in hits (49), runs (39), home runs (9), RBI (35), stolen bases (34), total bases (87), on-base percentage (.534), and slugging percentage (.837).

Sophomore pitcher Jade Fulton (Byron, Mich.) continues to be the Cardinals go-to pitcher this season. In three appearances last week, Fulton picked up two wins and two complete games for SVSU. In Saginaw Valley's 11-1 over Tiffin, she fanned eight Dragon batters. Against Ashland, she sat down another eight hitters via strikeout in the Cardinals 2-1 victory. Jade currently leads the league with four saves and is second in strikeouts (163) and shutouts (6). She is third in wins (13) and appearances (25) as well.

The Cardinals will return to action on Tuesday (Apr. 14) when they host Northwood University at 3:30 pm at the SVSU Sports Complex.
