Cardinals Fall to Lake State at GLIAC Tournament

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley women's tennis team fell to Lake Superior State in the seventh place match at the 2008 GLIAC women's tennis tournament, 5-3.

Once again, Katie Hanover (St. Johns, Mich./St. Johns HS) and Danielle Coldren(West Bloomfield, Mich./Pontiac Notre Dame Prep HS) were able to pick up a one doubles victory, 8-4. The pairing of sophomore Cortney Heileman (East China, Mich./St. Clair HS) and freshman Annessa Campian (Troy, Mich./Troy HS) were able to pick up an 8-6 win at three doubles to help give the Cardinals a 2-1 advantage going into singles competition. Coldren managed a 6-4, 6-1 victory at four singles, but that is all the Cardinals could pick up as they dropped matches at one, two, five and six. The Cardinals left three singles unfinished on the afternoon.

SVSU falls to 3-9 on the season while Lake Superior State moves to 5-9. This finishes the Cardinals fall portion of their schedule and will resume action in the spring.
