Cam Wiechmann (Birch Run, Mich./Muskegon CC), a senior catcher and designated hitter on the SVSU Baseball team, went 11-for-20 from the plate in six road contests over the past week as the Cardinals went 4-2 to remain in the hunt for a first round bye.
Wiechmann, a backup catcher and in the rotation for the DH role, came into this last week with just 16 hits and tallied 11 while hitting .550 on the week. Wiechmann picked up the game-winning RBI’s in both contests against Northwood with a two RBI double in game one and a bases loaded RBI on a walk in game two.
Wiechmann hit safely in each of the six contests and is now hitting .375 (21-for-56) in conference play with a .444 on-base-percentage.
