Cardinals Ranked #22 in NSCAA/Continental Tire Preseason Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team was ranked #22 in the the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men's College Preseason Rankings which were released today (Aug. 7).

The Cardinals had a record breaking season in 2011 in which they qualified for the NCAA Postseason for the first time in school history.  They also claimed the schools first GLIAC Championship in men's soccer enroute to hosting the school first-ever GLIAC Soccer Tournament.

Reigning national champion Fort Lewis takes the No. 1 spot, following a 24-1-0 record along with its NCAA Division II Men's Soccer title in 2011.

The title game's runner-up Lynn sits in the second preseason spot after finishing 2011 with a 14-5-3 record. Franklin Pierce, Millersville and Flagler round out the preseason Top 5.

On the women's side, Saint Rose take the top spot. The NCAA Division II national champions finished the 2011 season at 23-1-1.

Runner-up Grand Valley State sits at the No. 2 spot following a season where it finished 20-1-4 overall. Armstrong Atlantic State, Chico State and Colorado Mines finish out the women's preseason Top 5.

The first rankings of the 2012 regular season will be released September 4.
