OLD HICKORY, Tenn. - The SVSU men's golf team rebounded from a tough opening day, using a second round score of 294 to improve five spots to 15th overall at the 2017 Music City Regional. The event was played at the Hermitage Golf Club in the outskirts of Nashville.
The Cardinals put together scores of 303-294 (+21) to finish a single stroke behind 14th place Hillsdale College. Grand Valley State won the event with a total score of 571.
Ryan Peruski had the low round for SVSU on day two, posting a one-under 71. He carded rounds of 76-71 to finish with a 147 (+3). He finished tied for 32nd overall in the event.
Austin Carter bounced-back from a first round 83 to notch an even-par 72 on Tuesday. He finished with a 155 (+11) and was 88th overall.
Dustin Pumford added a 75 in the second round, finishing at seven-over par with his rounds of 76-75. He tied for 62nd overall. Teammate Mason Motte tied Pumford in the 62nd slot, putting together rounds of 74-77 for his total score of 151.
Jared Lyons had a Tuesday score of 76, pairing that with his opening round of 77 to finish nine-over with a 153.
Saginaw Valley competes in its fourth regional tournament of the 2016-17 season, which will be the Purgatory Regional in Noblesville, Indiana. The two-day tournament is slated to begin Sunday (Apr. 10) at the Purgatory Golf Club.
