CLEVELAND, Ohio – Saginaw Valley State
University Athletics is currently ranked 13th in the
latest fall Learfield Sports Directors' Cup
Standings released today (Dec. 6) by the National
Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
Saginaw Valley has 154.50 points to date this year. The Cardinal
women's cross country team, which finished 12th at the national
championships this season, secured 64.5 points, while the men
soccer team accounted for 90 points with their runner-up finish in
the men's tournament.
Colorado School of Mines jumped into the lead in the latest
edition with 283.5 points, while fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference member Grand Valley is second with 255.0 points
and the only GLIAC school ahead of SVSU.
The rankings include national finishes in women's cross country,
men's cross country, women's field hockey, women's soccer and men's
soccer.
SVSU's 13th place standing is the University's highest ranking in
the Learfield Sports Director's Up Standings and marks just the
second time that SVSU has been ranked inside the top-25. The
Cardinals ranked 24th in fall of 2009. Saginaw Valley also finished
96th overall in the final Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings
in 2011.
